First opened in 1912 as a grand hotel, the landmark has returned to its original purpose, offering a stay that is as design-forward as it is socially attuned. Recess blends the intimacy of a neighborhood gathering space with the energy of a modern clubhouse. Within its walls, guests and locals move fluidly between co-working studios, a circuit-based spa and fitness space, rooftop pool and bar, and a classic French brasserie. Guest rooms are intentionally minimalist, offering a quiet contrast to the hotel’s lively common areas, with warm materials and tactile details that invite rest. Each floor features its own Rumpus Room, a communal space curated for conversation, play, or simply passing time. At Recess, the city’s architecture and artistic soul shape the experience.
